You know what makes no sense to me?

… how a political party / ideology can understand that government-run health care, education and social programs don’t work, while simultaneously thinking the military can work.
It is a contradiction. It is illogical and irrational.

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, this party/ideology is called Republicanism or conservatism.

Hmmm..
Without getting into specifics, Article I, section 7 of the COTUS gives power to the Government (specifically to the federal but also implied to the states) to maintain an army.
The COTUS does not give power for any of the other garbage you mentioned. It is therefore unconstitutional & yes, our politicians have overstepped their authority.
So, if you are going to say that it is irrational & illogical for the gov’t to run the military, you are essentially saying the founders were wrong on that part. If they were wrong on that part of it, it stands to reason that they were wrong on other parts too. So what do you propose? Should we scrap the whole thing?
Furthermore, the COTUS states that POTUS’ job is basically two fold: 1) pass or veto bills. 2) Act as CIC for the armed forces. If it is irrational to have the gov’t run the military, then either POTUS should not be part of the gov’t, or half of his job description was written wrong, again by the “stupid” founders on the toilet paper formerly known as the COTUS.
Either way, it is just more evidence that the founders didn’t know what they were doing, didn’t have any divine inspiration, and as usual, got it wrong.
So you claim it’s illogical, yet Jefferson, Madison, Frankin, et al appear to have thought otherwise.
But what does make sense to you? Mercenary forces (how do you feel about Blackwater)? No military? Saying something is irrational while offering no alternative is so Obamaesque. What’s your solutiuon?
